in MYP 2 Art, we developed an introductory activity on three-dimensional design using the 3D modelling tool Tinkercad. Thanks to its simple and intuitive interface, students were able to explore shapes, volumes and spatial compositions in a creative and meaningful way. Throughout the project, students developed ATL research and creative thinking skills as they explored the possibilities of digital design and reflected on how to visually represent aspects of their personality, tastes and interests. Each student created a three-dimensional still life made up of symbolic objects reflecting elements of their personal identity. The digital designs were then used as a reference for an A3 artwork. In this phase, students put transfer skills into practice by taking a composition created in a three-dimensional digital environment and translating it into traditional artistic drawing. Each student was also able to freely reinterpret their initial idea, adding new details, elements and personal modifications to enrich the final result. The free choice of colouring techniques, such as wax crayons, felt-tip pens, coloured pencils or watercolour, particularly supported self-management and decision-making skills, as students had to select materials, plan their work and experiment with different artistic resources to achieve their own expressive effects. Through this activity, as well as being introduced to digital design and artistic drawing, students worked on observation, the representation of volume and the expression of personal identity through art, developing their creativity and their ability to communicate ideas visually in an original and reflective way.
