Year 5 students have been immersed in an exciting interdisciplinary project focused on theme parks. In Computational Science, our young engineers took on the challenge of programming the automated operation of a Ferris wheel. To achieve this, they applied advanced programming concepts: they created variables and programmed a sensor to record and count the exact number of rotations made by the ride. They also implemented a conditional statement to check, in real time, when the Ferris wheel had completed exactly three rotations, at which point the system sent the instruction for it to stop automatically. Once they had completed the coding stage on the computer, students began building the physical models that their programmes will be connected to. We are looking forward to seeing the final result of these incredible models in action!
