In their Unit of Inquiry on water, our 3-year-old pupils are discovering the importance of this resource for people, plants and animals.

Through different experiences and observations, they have learnt that water is essential for caring for our class pets, a tortoise and a canary, and keeping them healthy. Each day, they take part enthusiastically in simple care routines such as changing the water, observing their needs and making sure they have a clean, suitable space.

These experiences help children develop responsibility, empathy and respect for living things, as they understand that we all need water to live and grow. They also nurture their curiosity and spirit of enquiry.

This has become a meaningful opportunity to learn through care and connect classroom learning with real life.
