Having a school greenhouse and a team of Eco-Delegates offer a valuable educational opportunity.

14-07-2026

With a school greenhouse and a team of Eco-Delegates to care for it offers a valuable educational opportunity for the whole school community. This space becomes a living classroom where pupils can learn in a practical way about plant life cycles, sustainability and the importance of respecting the environment.

The greenhouse allows students to explore content from different areas, such as Natural Sciences, Values Education and even Mathematics, through hands-on experiences that encourage observation, responsibility and critical thinking. It also makes it possible to grow plants throughout the year, regardless of the weather, helping educational projects continue over time.

The role of the Eco-Delegates is key to this process. Their involvement in caring for the greenhouse encourages positive leadership, teamwork and commitment to their surroundings. They act as agents of change within the school, raising awareness among their peers of sustainable practices such as saving water, recycling and responsible consumption.

This initiative also strengthens students’ sense of belonging to the school, as they can see their efforts reflected in a real, shared space. The greenhouse grows much more than plants: it nurtures values, healthy habits and ecological awareness, helping to educate responsible citizens who are committed to the future of our planet.
