Today, we have concluded a new edition of Career Talks, where our students have been able to gain first-hand insight into the professional world, challenge preconceived ideas and begin to discover more clearly which pathways spark their interest, and which do not. This journey now continues with practical workshops and culminates in Work Experience Week in Year 12. Today is the final day to register. Registration: Work Experience 26. Experiences that inspire, decisions that take shape In recent weeks, our students in Years 10 and 11 and Year 12 have taken part in the Career Talks sessions, an essential part of their professional guidance and personal growth journey. Through simultaneous sessions, they have been able to explore different professional sectors from a real, relatable and honest perspective. This morning, we brought the programme to a close with two particularly relevant fields: Banking and Human Resources, with the HR Director at Caja Rural de Asturias, and Mechanical Engineering with an international perspective, both delivered by parents of Early Years pupils at our school. Beyond the content itself, what has been truly meaningful is the dialogue: conversations that not only inspire but also help students clarify their interests, question their assumptions and begin to identify, with greater judgement, what motivates them and what does not. This is the true value of Career Talks: encouraging reflection, opening up possibilities and supporting an increasingly conscious and personal decision-making process. The next step in this pathway will be three practical workshops, designed to take this exploration one step further: 2 June – Personal Finance, focused on managing money during university life 3 June – Medicine, including suturing practice 4 June – Survival at Sea, with the Merchant Navy Three experiences with a shared purpose: learning through practice and gaining first-hand insight into different professional environments. As the culmination of this journey, Work Experience Week for Year 12 represents a unique opportunity to take a first step into the professional world. It is a space where students can observe, get involved, take on responsibilities and begin to understand, through experience, what it means to be part of a working environment. There are 20 places available across a range of sectors, and today is the final day to register. Registration: Work Experience 26. It is important to remember that, at this stage, every professional experience has significant value, even if it does not fully align with a student’s preferred field. Contact with the realities of the workplace, exposure to new dynamics and the opportunity to take on responsibility are, in themselves, essential learning experiences. We encourage our students to take this step with openness and curiosity. This range of experiences, talks, workshops and placements, is part of the Future Pathways approach: a continuous journey that supports students from the early stages and, in the final years of school, gains greater depth, direction and meaning. Because guidance is not only about providing information. It is about creating experiences that enable every student to move forward with confidence as they build their own future.
